Yeddyurappa Resigns As Karnataka CM
By: Tupaki Desk | 19 May 2018 11:00 AM GMTBS Yeddyurappa quit as Chief Minister of Karnataka ahead of the floor test. Which means he accepted the defeat after failing to get the support 8 MLAs, be it from Congress, JD (S) and Independents.
Targeting Congress and JD (S) while addressing the Assembly ahead of his vote of confidence, Yeddyurappa said parties which lost people's faith are now trying to win. 'People gave Me 104 seats and Made Me win. Never seen a PM who declared a CM Candidate ahead of Elections. It was My Dream to be CM when Modi is leading the nation as PM. Election Results are now out. Today happens to be the floor test. The situation would have been different had BJP won 113 seats. Think for once. Dear Kumaraswamy, I can sacrifice my life for people and fight till my last breath. People's Mandate is final. I will fight until farmers see a bright day,' he asserts.
In the House, Siddaramaiah and Kumaraswamy shook hands while celebrating victory over BJP after the resignation of BS Yeddyurappa as Chief Minister. Congress and JD (S) Members will be meeting Governor Vajubhai Vala to claim majority. Then, They would wait for the Governor's call to form the government.
If everything falls in place, HD Kumaraswamy will be sworn in as the Chief Minister of Karnataka on Sunday or Monday.
