Politics is a very funny game. Those who are uncrowned kings, suddenly become powerless. The same story is happening in undivided Adilabad district. Yesterday's big names in politics are today non-entities.
Take the case of Venugopala Chary. Till a few years ago, he was the unquestioned king in undivided Adilabad. He was speaker of the Assembly and a former union minister. He was a permanent fixture in the district politics. Today, he is a non-entity in Adilabad politics. Similarly, Aravinda Reddy was a heavyweight till recently. He was several times MLA, one-time MP and a former minister. Repeated defections have reduced him to a non-entity. Ditto with Rathod Ramesh, Narayana Rao Patel and former minister Boda Janardhan. All these leaders have lost their relevance in Adilabad politics.
Even senior Congress leader like Prem Sagar Rao are now considering leaving the Congress. If they get a favourable signal from the TRS, he is said to be ready to jump into the TRS. Most of these seniors are now staring at a certain retirement.
