Will Chevella Mantra Work Again For Ys Sharmila?
By: Tupaki Desk | 7 Aug 2021 7:26 AM GMTThe Chevella mantra has worked wonders for the late YSR. But, will it do the same magic for YS Sharmila? Well! Sharmila, it appears, feels that Chevella sentiment still has the power to woo the voters. She is now planning to launch a Padayatra from Chevella. The yatra will begin on October 18, the date when she launched her padayatra for YS Jagan way back in 2012.
Sharmila is planning to launch the padayatra, which will cover more than 3100 km. This in itself will be a record of sorts as no politician has undertaken such a long padayatra so far. She is likely to cover all the 14 districts in Telangana and cover the maximum number of villages en route. Using this padayatra, she is likely to explain to the voters her policies and principles. She believes that the yatra will also help her to galvanise the party machinery and prepare them for 2024 elections.
But, the big question is whether she will be able to relive the 2003 or 2012 magic? Despite her hard work, the YSRCP could not come to power in 2014, 2003 Praja Prasthanam was a different ball game altogether. YSR had an unusual appeal and charisma and the people at large were unhappy with the TDP. YSR had used this anti-incumbency. Further, he was the sole alternative to the TDP. In 2023, there are at least two more alternatives in the Congress and the BJP. With four alternatives in place, can Sharmila hope to make a mark?
