YSR close aid assumes charge as Deputy Speaker

Both the TDP and the YSRCP backed this non-controversial politician.Earlier Buddha Prasad filed his nomination for the post. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu confirmed his name in the last minute.Naidu changed his previous idea to nominate Gollapalli Surya Rao for the post keeping caste and region equations in view.After he was declared elected he was taken to the speakerÂ’s podium and leaders of all political parties greeted him on his election.
Mandali was elected as a Member of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly from Avanigadda Constituency of Krishna District for three terms during 1999, 2004 and 2014.He was one of the close associative of late YSR. He worked as a minister too in Dr.Y.S.Raja Sekhar Reddy government. He dealt the portfolio of Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development and Fisheries during 2007-2009. As a cabinet minister he has formulated many innovative schemes like 'Pashukranthi' to benefit poor people and small farmers with hybrid animals on subsidy rates and "Matsya Kranti" by which fisheries women are benefitted.
He carved a niche for himself in the political field of Andhra Pradesh with his unique personality. He is a staunch follower of Gandhian principles and a leader with Service motto and national outlook. Especially, he is known for his love and affection for Telugu language and Culture and for his unstinted efforts for their development and also for the welfare of Telugu people living all over the world..The 58 year old Prasad also worked as the Chairman of Andhra Pradesh Official Language Commission till recently.
Mandali Budda Prasad is known for his craving for power and has always been able to get into some post of power.Despite the fact he joined TDP just before elections, it came as a surprise to many that he managed to get Avanigadda assembly seat. Now after becoming MLA elect its even more surprise that he could get deputy speaker post.
Leader of the Oppostion, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed the hope that Mandali would strive to protect the rights of the legislators and would enhance the prestige of the house.With this the TDP has coveted both the posts of Speaker and the deputy speaker.
