Though a resounding victory is a foregone conclusion in Atmakur, the ruling YSRCP is not leaving anything to chance. The party has drawn up a detailed plan to post a victory by a huge margin. It may be recalled that Atmakur bypoll was necessitated due to the shocking demise of minister Mekapati Gautham Reddy a few months ago.

The deadline for filing of nominations expired on Tuesday. There are 27 persons in the fray. The final number would be known after the deadline for the withdrawal of nominations expires. As of now, the BJP, BSP and YSRcP are the main parties in the fray. The BJP is determined to ensure that there is polling for Atmakur.

The YSRCP has already appointed six incharges for the six mandals in the constituency. One minister and an MLA each have been given the responsibility. For Atmakur Urban minister Amzad Basha and MLA Gadikota Srikanth Reddy have been made incharges. For Atmakur rural, it would be minister Karumuri Nageswara Rao and MLA Topudurthi Prakash Reddy. Minister Meruga Nagarjuna and MLA Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy are incharges for Anantasagar mandal, while minister Jogi Ramesh and MLA Dwarakanath Reddy would be incharges for AS Pet. For Chejerla mandal, minister RK Roja and MLA Kodali Nani are incharges. Similarly, Minister Ch Venugopala Krishna and MLA Anil Yadav are incharges for Marripadu. For Samam mandal, minister Narayana Swamy and MLA Prasanna Kumar Reddy woud be the incharges.

Interestingly, minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy has been exempted from working for Atmakur. His brother Dwarakanath Reddy has been given the responsibility.
