Munici Polls: YSRCP Crushes TDP In Its Stronghold Penugonda

The Municipal elections in Andhra Pradesh are being observed by everyone with par as the general elections. One such battlefield municipality is Penugonda Municipality in Anantapur which happens to be the stronghold of the Paritala family.

Taking this into consideration everyone expected a tough fight between YSRCP and TDP. However, in reality it was one-sided elections for the ruling party as it had swept the Penugonda Municipality in a big way.

Despite being the stronghold of the Paritala family, Telugu Desam Party(TDP) had failed to create any impact in the elections as the ruling party had won 19 out of the 20 wards in the Municipality. The sad part is that TDP could not win at least one ward in the Municipality.

We have to accept the fact that the ruling party gets a slight advantage in any local body elections or Municipality elections. But sweeping the elections every time it contests is possible only if people trust the party which is happening with YSRCP.

Starting from the 2019 elections, there is no stopping for the party. Be it by elections or local body elections, YSRCP is turning out to be a nightmare for the opposition TDP by making it weaker with every election.

TDP suffered a big shock in the region by losing the 2019 elections. TDP was washed away in the region by the YSRCP wave. As a second blow, the TDP lost the Municipality without any representation.

With the Municipality becoming a battlefield, both YSRCP and TDP had taken the elections prestigiously and gave their best to see that the momentum will be on their side in the elections. But the ruling YSRCP in the end had the last laugh by crushing the grand old TDP in its stronghold region.

On the other hand, YSRCP also claimed the Kuppam Municipality with a resounding victory. Kuppam is the Assembly constituency represented by party supremo, former Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu. This is a humiliating defeat to the opposition party considering the fact that the party could not win the elections in the region represented by the party chief.
