YSRCP Government Moves In To Rein In Temple Desecration
By: Tupaki Desk | 9 Sep 2020 3:00 AM GMTThe YSRCP government in Andhra Pradesh has taken a serious view of the burning of the temple Rathams in some parts of Andhra Pradesh. The recent burning of the Antarvedi temple chariot has put the YSRCP government in a spot. The government has decided to ensure that there is no recurrence of such unfortunate incidents.
The problem for the YSRCP government is that the critics will try to politicize the issue of the damage to the Ratham by invoking Jagan's religious beliefs. They would try to argue that such attacks have gone up ever since Jagan took over. Realising this, Jagan has immediately decided to appoint a trusted and key official as the top boss of the endowments department. He also ordered for protection to all the temple rathams across the state. He has also announced the setting up of CCTVs in all the temple premises to prevent the recurrence of such incidents.
More worrisome is that instead of the TDP, it is the BJP and the RSS which took lead in the agitation at Antarvedi. Hundreds of activists were mobilized and protests were organized in a big way. Even as this was happening, a vehicle with the sticker having religious symbols and slogans other than Hindu was found on the Tirumala hill. The officials averted a major controversy by immediately pasting a white paper on the sticker.
