YSRCP has its plans ready for Kuppam assembly constituency

After giving a scare of a lifetime to Chandrababu Naidu and after snatching away Kuppam municipality, the ruling YSRCP is now planning to wrap up the all-important Kuppam assembly constituency. It wants to put an end to the uninterrupted victory run from 1989 till 2019 of Chandrababu Naidu in 2024. The party is trying an all-out strategy to win Kuppam.
Initially, there were rumours that the YSRCP would field senior minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy's brother's son Peddireddy Sudheer Reddy. But now it turns out that there is a plan to field Tamil film hero Vishal. Though a Tamil hero, Vishal is a Telugu from Nellore district and comes from the powerful Reddy community. Vishal''s father GK Reddy is a well-known realtor in south AP.
However, strong sources say that the YSRCP is actually investing in two candidates. The first is MLC Bharat, who is from Kuppam. The second is Vishal. Bharat's father Chandramouli had contested twice against Chandrababu and lost. This time around, Bharat could be fielded, according to YSRCP sources.
Meanwhile, Vishal has also been asked to focus on Kuppam. However, Peddireddy has recently said that Bharat would be the party's candidate from Kuppam. It remains to be seen how the YSRCP will play its cards in Kuppam. The party is buoyed up by the results of the recent gram panchayat, mandal parishad and municipal elections, where it has clearly trumped the TDP.
