YSRCP increases strength in Upper House, TDP restricted to 11
By: Tupaki Desk | 18 Jun 2021 8:03 AM GMTThe hardships faced by the ruling YSRCP in Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council have ended finally with the party's strength in the house has increased while the opposition TDP lost its strength.
YSRCP enjoys a good strength in the house with 21, and the grand old TDP was restricted to 11 in the Upper House.
TDP's strength has come down to 28 from 11 after the YSRCP has won the four nominated posts under the Governor's quota.
In addition to this, 10 MLCs of the opposition party have retired earlier this week, which in turn resulted in TDP getting weak in the house.
It has to be noted that, when the TDP has the majority in the house, the party didn't turn any stone unturned to oppose the resolutions passed by the government.
TDP caused troubles to a level that, the Andhra Pradesh government passed a resolution to abolish the Upper House. The centre is yet to take a call on this.
When the centre's response is awaited, the YSRCP got the majority and the party can appoint the Chairman and his deputy of its choice.
This a big blow to the TDP as it's has a minimal strength in the Assembly and now the same goes with the Upper House. BJP also faced the jolt with no representation in the house. AP BJP chief Somu Veerraju as he retired from the house.
