YSRCP leadership fails to control groupsim in Rajahmundry

The 2019 assembly elections were by all accounts a landslide for the YSRCP. The party swept the whole state and decimated the TDP, which was in power for five years. But despite the Jagan wave, Rajahmundry stood rock solid behind the TDP. Both the seats in the city - the Urban and the Rural - went into the TDP kitty.
This was a huge shock to the YSRCP, which lost despite having strong leaders and a huge wave in its favour. Unfortunately for the party, it has not picked pace even after the elections and tried to reinvent itself. Sources say that the party is suffering from rampant groupism in Rajahmundry city.
Despite the best efforts of senior leaders from Tadepalli, the situation has not improved. Initially, Jagan's uncle and TTD chairperson YV Subba Reddy was made the incharge of twin Godavari districts. However, he failed to bring rapprochement between the warring groups. As a result, he was shifted out and MP Mithun Reddy was made the incharge. But, even he has failed to broker peace between the two groups.
Interestingly, the party, which is in power in the state, does not have its own office in Rajahmundry. It operates from the personal offices of different key leaders. Some meetings are held at the residence of MP Margani Bharat and yet others in the office of the incharge of the rural Rajahmundry constituency
With the mayoral elections just 20 months away, the party leadership is now working overtime to set the house in order. On the other hand, the surveys present a bleak picture for the YSRCP. It remains to be seen how YS Jagan sets the things right and prepares the party for the coming days.
