YSRCP leader Mohammed Iqbal, who had contested from the Hindupur constituency in the 2019 general elections, lost the elections in the hands of Actor-turned-politician and TDP leader Nandamuri Balakrishna.
After Mohammed Iqbal lost the elections, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy made him MLC.

Addressing the public in the constituency, the MLC said, Balakrishna should restrict himself to movies, as he is busy shooting for films without spending time on addressing the problems of the public.
The MLC met the locals and noted down the problems they have been facing. Mohammed Iqbal held a meeting with the locals in the area to know the problems they are facing.
He heaped praises on the state government and said, the government is focused on serving the poor in Andhra Pradesh.
