YSR Congress MPs Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy, YV Subba Reddy, Y Vijay Sai Reddy, YS Avinash Reddy and Vara Prasad met Union Water Resource Minister Nitin Gadkari to take measures to complete Polavaram Project by the end 2019. They discussed about Polavaram Project, Dredging Corporation of India privatization and Durgapatnam Port establishment.
YCP Parliamentarians objected privatization of profit-making Dredging Corporation of India. They appealed the Union Minister to convince PM to call off any such plans.
After the meeting, MPs spoke to media persons on the topic they had discussed. 'We sought explanation from Centre why AP Government took the responsibility of completing Polavaram Project. A probe has been demanded on the irregularities in the project. We sought completion of Durgapatnam Port at the earliest & objected privatization of Dredging Corporation of India. Privatization poses a threat to National Security. YSR Congress will be backing DCI Employees in this issue,' they told.
Opposition MPs once again appealed Centre to accord Special Category Status. 'YCP will fight till AP receives Special Status. I will resign immediately if that fetches Status for Andhra. If we resign now, There will be nobody to speak in Parliament. CM Chandrababu Naidu has created a situation where only the rich can contest in elections,' alleged the MPs.
