The ruling YSRcP in Andhra Pradesh has emerged as the political party that had spent the least amount in the 2019 elections. According to the Election Watch –Association for Democratic Reforms organisation, the affidavits and the details of the electoral expenditure of the candidates has shown that the YSRCP had spent less than the allowed amount.

The organisation, which studied the details of 538 out of the 543 MPs, has shown that Goddeti Madhavi, the YSRCP candidate, has spent just 14.12 lakh for her elections. This is the lowest amount spent so far. YSRCP MP Balli Durga Prasad spent Rs 15.06 lakh, while B Chandrasekhar, Chinta Anuradhaa and B Venkata Satyavathi have spent Rs 15.83 lakh, Rs 16/74 lakh and Rs 17.66 lakh for their elections. Jammu Kashmir's Anantanag MP Hasnain Masoodii (Rs 79.27 lakh) and Gorakhpur's BJP MP Ravikishan spent Rs 57.85 lakh. They are among those who spent huge amounts. BJP's Adilabad MP Soyam Bapurao spent Rs 28,500 from his personal expenses, while the party spent Rs 49.99 lakh on him. Shiv Sena MPs too have spent huge amounts. The average expenditure of Shiv Sena MP Candidates was Rs 59.26 lakh, while TRS came second with Rs 57.85 lakh per MP.

Interestingly five MPs have not furnished their details of expenditure. Two of them are from Andhra Pradesh. One of them is rebel YSRCP MP Raghuramakrishnam Raju. Another interesting feature is that the smaller states have spent more amounts while the candidates from the larger states have spent less.
