The forthcoming Nagarjuna Sagar by-election is all set to offer an interesting and high intense battle. The other day, the Telangana Martyrs' Forum (TMF) had announced that 400 members from the Martyrs families who lost their lives in the agitation for Telangana state will file election nominations from Nagarjuna Sagar.

Making the by-election, one of the most-watched elections, the ruling YSRCP in Andhra Pradesh has also decided to try its luck in the by-poll.

As per the media reports, a candidate has filed nomination papers for the by-election representing the YSRCP. This marks the first election fray of YSRCP in Telangana after the state bifurcation in 2014.

This development became the talk of the town among the political circles in the state. The Chief Ministers of Telugu states share a cordial relation with each other. But the YSRCP's decisions came as a sudden twist in the tale.

The Congress party which is struggling for existence in the state has announced former Minister Jana Reddy as its candidate for the upcoming by-election. BJP and TRS are yet to announce the candidates.

The Nagarjuna Sagar by-election will commence on April 17. Only one day left for the candidates to file their nominations. As per the schedule, candidates can file their nominations from March 25-30. With the SEC announcing holidays on 27, 28, 29, candidates were directed to file their nominations on 25 and 30 of this month.
