YSRCP To Win Tirupati LS by 3 lakh Majority?
By: Tupaki Desk | 17 March 2021 4:21 AM GMTNow that the poll bugle is sounded about the Tirupati MP constituency bypolls, the political pundits feel that the Tirupati election would be a mere formality. Given the kind of stupendous successes that the YSRCP has registered in the panchayat and the municipal polls, the party might go on to win the seat by over three lakh vote margin.
The recent municipal corporation elections to Tirupati and the municipal elections in Naidupet, Venkat Giri and Sullurpet have shown that the TDP is only a very distant second. It could not register any impressive victory. The Jagan Juggernaut has rolled on unhindered. The BJP-Jana Sena too did not do any better. If the same trend continues, the TDP may not get more than 25 per cent votes in Tirupati Lok Sabha elections.
In the Tirupati corporation elections, the YSRCP had bagged 22 divisions unopposed. In the 27 wards where elections were conducted, the party goet 47,745 votes, while the TDP could get just 18712 votes. In Sullurpet too, 14 YSRCP councillors were elected unanimously. There were elections in 11 wards. In these 11 wards, the YSRCP got 6000 votes, while the TDP got 2380 votes. IN Naidupet too the same story was repeated. In Venkatagiri, where there were elections to 22 wards, the TDP got 8369 votes, while the YSRCP got 16883 votes.
If sources are to be believed, the YSRCP will field Dr Gurumurthy, a young and locally popular doctor as its candidate. Dr Gurumurthy served YS Jagan during the latter's padayatra and treated him when he was unwell. The TDP has already announced that former minister Panabaka Lakshmi would be its candidate. The BJP is yet to announce its candidate. It is being rumoured that former IAS officer Dasari Srinivasulu could be the party's candidate. The Jana Sena will support the BJP.
