YV Subba Reddy's wait for Rajya Sabha seat to get longer
By: Tupaki Desk | 2 April 2022 6:39 AM GMTWill AP CM and YSRCP supremo YS Jagan Mohan Reddy dash the hopes of his uncle YV Subba Reddy again? Will he deny a Rajya Sabha seat to YV Subba Reddy and confine him to the TTD? Sources say it is likely that Jagan will keep YV Subba Reddy waiting for some more time.
This month, four Rajya Sabha seats from AP are going to fall vacant. Former minister Suresh Prabhu, TG Venkatesh, Sujana Chowdary and Vijaya Sai Reddy are set to complete their term. Of these, Vijaya Sai Reddy is likely to be renominated to the Rajya Sabha. YSRCP sources say that Vijaya Sai Reddy's presence is needed in Delhi and that he would leverage his relations with the NDA and especially Narendra Modi to the benefit of the YSRCP.
At the same time, one seat is likely to be given to the Adani family. The Adani brothers recently met YS Jagan to discuss the modalities of Rajya Sabha nomination. That leaves just two seats. Of these one seat is likely to be given to actor-comedian Ali in the minority quota. The other seat is likely to go to Beeda Mastan Rao of Nellore.
It is being said that YS Jagan promised a Rajya Sabha seat to Mastan Rao when he joined the party ahead of the 2019 elections. If this is done, then YV Subba Reddy would be left high and dry. He may have to wait for some more time to be rehabilitated. YV Subba Reddy has been trying to enter into mainstream politics for quite some time and has been angling for either a minister’s post or a Rajya Sabha seat. But, he may be left empty handed this time too.
