BJP aims at YSRCP, but targets TDP in Andhra Pradesh
By: Tupaki Desk | 13 Jun 2023 3:58 PM ISTIs there more to Amit Shah's tirade against the ruling YSRCP in Andhra Pradesh than meets the eye? Is it part of a well-thought-out strategy to rob the TDP of its poll planks? Will BJP increase its votes on an anti-YSRCP plank and thus divide the anti-Jagan votes in Andhra Pradesh? Is it a fixed match that the BJP and the YSRCP are playing in the state?
A section of political analysts are raising these questions. They see that the BJP, which has largely remained dormant all these years, has suddenly organized public meeting in Vizag ostensibly on the pretext of the completion of the 9 years of Modi rule, only to divide the anti-YSRCP votes in the state and thus help the YSRCP in its quest for power in 2024.
They feel that by adopting a strident anti-YSRCP approach, the BJP will also try to lure Pawan Kalyan back into its fold. Already the Jana Sena is unhappy over the rumours that the TDP may not offer it many seats. The Jana Sena clearly does not want to be a junior partner of the Telugu Desam. The BJP could even promise it a driver's seat in the 2024 elections.
By this, the BJP can ensure the defeat of the TDP. The national leadership of the BJP strongly believes that it can grow only when the TDP is weakened further. The TDP would get almost decimated if it fails to win in the 2024 elections. An ageing Chandrababu and an inept Lokesh would not be in a position to breathe life into the party, it feels. Hence, the BJPs meet in Vizag aimed YSRCP, but targeted the TDP, feel the analysts.
