Last year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi created a record by delivering the longest Independence Day speech ever. He addressed the Nation from Red Fort for 96 Minutes in 2016.
In 1947, India's First Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru spoke for 72 minutes. This record remained intact till 2015.
PM Modi received complaints that his Independence Day speeches were too long during his radio address 'Mann Ki Baat'. So, He promised to make a shorter speech this year.
Today, NaMo has delivered his shortest Independence Day address in four years. His speech lasted for just 57 minutes.
Vajpayee's Independence Day speeches used to last from 30 to 35 minutes. Manmohan Singh's address were ranged from 32 to 50 minutes.
