Something unfortunate has happened with Andhra Pradesh politics. Senior Andhra Pradesh politician and former Union Minister Kavuri Sambasiva Rao has passed away at the age of 82. He breathed his last in Hyderabad while undergoing treatment at a private hospital after battling health issues for some time.

Born in Dosapadu village of Krishna district, Kavuri Sambasiva Rao had a long and influential political career. He was elected to the Lok Sabha five times and represented constituencies such as Machilipatnam and Eluru in Parliament. Over the years, he earned recognition as a senior leader with strong influence in Andhra Pradesh politics.

Kavuri began his political journey with the Indian National Congress and remained an important leader in the party for decades. During the United Progressive Alliance government, he served as the Union Minister for Textiles in 2013.

During the period of Andhra Pradesh’s bifurcation, he strongly opposed the division of the state and eventually resigned from the Congress party. Later, he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Apart from politics, Kavuri Sambasiva Rao was also known as a successful industrialist, particularly in the construction sector, before entering public life.

Following the news of his demise, several political leaders and public representatives expressed their condolences, remembering him as an experienced leader who played a significant role in both state and national politics. His passing has created a sense of grief across political circles in Andhra Pradesh.
