Vijayawada Result: AB's Social Media Hype, Not There On Ground!

One of the crucial municipal election constituencies in Andhra Pradesh is the Vijayawada segment, which is historically known for filing some of the strongest candidates.

A similar scenario was observed again this year as the Janasena fielded Vangaveeti Radha, who had recently shifted from the Telugu Desam party. He registered a remarkable victory in the Vijayawada segment via a margin of more than 1.3 lakh votes.

However, the narrative was carried on social media. In such a way that AB Venkateswara Rao, who contested as an Independent candidate would be finding himself a respectable position as well.

It was extensively speculated and the narrative was built on social media in such a way that AB Venkateshwar Rao would be securing the second position in the mayor race in Vijayawada.

A strong social media theory was also carried out in this regard and people started actually believe that AB Venkateswara Rao might actually be a strong candidate.

But the reality turned out to be extremely different as he was reduced to the very last third position. In fact, he did not even get his deposits back as he could not pull 16% of the votes either.

All he could secure was around 12,000 votes as an independent candidate while his TDP and YCP counterparts could secure more than one lakh votes , each. This is an extremely ordinary result for AB Venkateswara Rao, who had earlier served as DGP rank Police officer in Andhra Pradesh.

This has led to public comments that social media campaigns and narratives will not impact on the Ground level, and this outcome in the Vijayawada election is clearly implying the same.

On the other hand, Vangaveeti Radha, who had been extremely excited about gaining some sort of power in Vijayawada will now hold a significant position in the constituency. It has to be seen how he would carry the legacy of the Vangaveeti family from now on.
