It is already known that a sad aeroplane accident in Ahmedabad climbed over 240 lives, and it is one of the most horrifying plane crashes in recent years. A preliminary report by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) has revealed shocking details about the Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad on June 12, 2025.

According to the report, both engines of the aircraft lost power because the fuel supply was suddenly cut off just after takeoff. The switches that control fuel flow to the engines were somehow moved from “RUN” to “CUTOFF,” which stopped fuel from reaching the engines.

Cockpit voice recordings show one pilot asking, “Why did you cut off?” and the other replying, “I did not,” showing clear confusion. A mayday call was made, but it was too late. Although one engine restarted briefly, there wasn’t enough power, and the plane crashed near a medical college, killing 241 people on board and 19 on the ground. Only one person survived.

The report confirmed that there was no mechanical fault in the engines or fuel system. It’s still not known whether the switches were moved by accident, by mistake, or on purpose. The AAIB is now investigating how the switches were moved and why safety locks didn’t prevent it.

The report also mentioned a 2018 safety notice by the U.S. FAA about a similar switch issue, but it was not mandatory. Air India had not followed it.

Investigations are ongoing with support from Boeing, GE, and international agencies. Experts hope the final report, expected in a few months, will provide full answers. Meanwhile, concerns about pilot training, cockpit design, and safety checks are growing.
