How Much Beer And Alcohol Consumed In Telangana?

The Excise department often sees big income in Telangana if we look at the data. During festivals, we see a profit in record numbers in the department. The data says that the revenue from alcohol sales has increased by multiple folds over the years.

This was reportedly proven yet again. It is said that the Excise Department had submitted a report to the newly formed government on the revenue it generated and as part of this Telangana stands tall among the South Indian states.

Reports say that Telangana is in the top position in terms of liquor consumption and is in second place among the Southern states as far as the revenue is concerned while Tamil Nadu is at the first spot.

In 2022-23, the per capita alcohol consumption stood at 9 liters and beer consumption was 10.7 liters in the state. The numbers are high when we compare them to other states in the South which have a bigger population size.

If we crack down the revenue the states generate with liquor sales, Telangana stands second with as much as Rs Rs.33,268 crores, followed by Andhra Pradesh(Rs 23,804 crores), Karnataka(Rs 29,790 crores) and Kerala(Rs 16,189 crores). Tamil Nadu is at the top position.

If we take the data of the state in the income after the state was bifurcated, the numbers are picking up with every passing year. In the past two to three years the numbers saw a big jump. Now the data says the revenue is quite high.
