Chandrababu Naidu is a name that needs no introduction. He has a dreamy legacy that many leaders dream of. He saw many ups and downs. Despite being a regional leader, he played a big role in bringing the ally parties together at the Centre. He enjoyed good ties with the national leaders.

Out of all the events that happened to him, what happened on October 1st stands alone. Back in 2003 on Oct 1, he was attacked by the Maoist leaders in Alipiri. The shocking bomb attack completed 20 years. The incident is dubbed the Alipiri Bomb blast.

Thankfully the Naxal trouble was not severe now. But back then the situation was different. Seeing the threat of this, Chandrababu dealt with the Naxals with an iron fist. With this, he became their target and they placed the bombs to attack him. The explosives were so powerful that even his bulletproof car was also damaged.

Naxals used powerful claymore mines to attack the CM’s convoy. After crossing the Alipiri toll gate downhill the blast happened. The then CM sustained injuries. A few legislators also sustained in the blast.

Back then, the National media said that a few years before the attack an attempt was made in 1998 in the Karimnagar district. Thankfully the attack was not made as the explosives were removed at the right time.

The attack happened when he was on his way to submit the traditional dress to the Lord Venkateswara as he was the CM then. The impact of the blast was such that the sound was heard for two kilometers leaving everyone in the nearby areas frightened.

The blast was carried out by the People's War Group. After the attack, a few Masoist leaders were mentioned accused in the case. And the case hearing lasted for 11 long years. The court termed G Rammohan Reddy, S Narasimha Reddy, and P Chandra alias Keshav guilty and slapped them with four years in prison and a fine.

A few decisions Chandrababu Naidu took as CM did not go well with the Naxalites and this is said to be the reason behind the car blast. Probably, a Chief Minister getting attacked by the Naxalites with explosives happened for the first time in the country. While 17 Claymore mines were planted just 9 of them exploded. Reacting to the miraculous escape, Chandrababu said that the blessings of Lord Venkateswara saved him.
