The Lok Sabha elections are around the corner. Ahead of this, we are witnessing interesting developments from Tamil Nadu, the heartland of Dravidian politics. A top hero floated a party on his own to eye the next general elections. On top of this, we are seeing new alliances in the state.

Putting an end to the long suspense, Ruling DMK and Kamal Haasan’s Makkal Needhi Maiam announced an alliance recently. Both parties decided to work together for the Lok Sabha polls. Kamal Haasan said that the decision was taken for the better of the country. As MNM will not contest the Lok Sabha elections and support DMK, the party will get a Rajya Sabha seat.

Now another sensation came from Tamil Nadu ahead of the elections. Popular actor-producer Sarath Kumar merged his party into the BJP. The party which is over one and a half decades old in the state is merged into the party.

Tamil Nadu has the image of being politically active. It is common for the stars to start a party. Be it Sarath Kumar or Vijayakanth they start the parties to shine there. This made Sarath Kumar float a party named All India Samathuva Makkal Katchi (AISMK).

Sarath Kumar met Annamalai, Tamil Nadu BJP chief, and formally dissolved the party. After seventeen long years, the party was dissolved. Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, BJP faced good news with this ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.

Under the leadership of Annamalai, a Cop-turned-politician, the BJP is getting stronger and stronger. Recently a few leaders including the former Ministers joined the party showing a sign that the party is becoming strong. Now the AISMK has been dissolved.

Forming an alliance is not new to Sarath Kumar. Since the inception of the party, it has been doing the same. Earlier it allied with AIADMK and Sarath Kumar even became the MP. In the 2021 polls, the party allied with Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) and lost the elections.
