Shocking But Official: Amazon Fires 16,000 Employees!

In what could be considered a major shake up in the tech industry Amazon has communicated that the company is firing 16,000 employees on immediate basis while the execution will happen at later stages.

Amazon has officially announced that it will lay off around 16,000 corporate employees worldwide, marking another major round of job cuts at the tech giant.

This comes just months after the company reduced its corporate workforce by nearly 14,000 roles, taking the total number of white collar layoffs to close to 30,000. It is one of the largest restructuring phases in Amazon’s history.

According to the company, the decision is part of a broader effort to streamline operations and make teams more efficient. Senior leadership has said the focus is on reducing excessive management layers, speeding up decision making, and cutting internal bureaucracy. The layoffs mainly impact corporate and non warehouse roles across multiple departments and regions.

Amazon has informed employees in the United States that affected staff will get a window of about 90 days to apply for other internal positions within the company. Those who are unable to secure a new role will be offered severance packages along with transition and support benefits, depending on local regulations.

The company has stressed that the layoffs are not driven by financial stress but by long term strategic changes.
