It is becoming overwhelmingly clear already that the AI revolution is going to have a significant impact on the human workforce in the software sector. And now the latest development are suggesting that things could get really tricky even in other sectors.

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei has sparked a major debate with his recent comments about artificial intelligence and jobs. He warned that AI could eliminate up to 50 percent of entry level white collar roles in the coming years.

According to him, fields like law, consulting, finance, and technology are especially vulnerable because many junior roles involve routine research, document review, data analysis, and report preparation. These are exactly the kinds of tasks advanced AI systems are rapidly learning to handle.

However, the claim circulating on social media that AI will wipe out 50 percent of all lawyers, consultants, and finance professionals within just 12 months appears to be an exaggeration.

Amodei’s actual warning focused mainly on entry level positions and suggested a broader time frame of one to five years, not an immediate one year collapse across entire industries.

His comments have triggered mixed reactions. Some business leaders agree that AI will significantly reduce hiring for junior roles. Others argue that AI will mostly augment professionals rather than replace them completely, especially at mid and senior levels where judgment, strategy, and client relationships matter more.

The bigger takeaway is not sudden mass unemployment overnight, but a rapid shift in how white collar work is structured and valued.
