Trump Tariff War: What’s The Solution Now?

The President of United States, Donald Trump has taken a British strong stand against India and has started to impose tariffs as well due to the prevailing trading situation between India and Russia.

However, global experts are pointing out that India must learn a lesson from this and instead look to find other avenues for revenue generation. The same can be understood from the latest statement from global entrepreneur, Anand Mahindra.

Business leader Anand Mahindra has urged India to treat the U.S. tariffs as a chance for big reforms. Recently, the U.S. government announced a 50% tariff on some Indian goods, which could affect exports. But instead of seeing it as a problem, Mahindra wants India to see it as an opportunity just like how the 1991 financial crisis led to major economic changes in the country.

He called this situation a modern Manthan and asked if India can find Amrit from it. Mahindra suggested two important steps: First, improve ease of doing business by creating a fast, simple, and clear single-window clearance system across all states. Second, boost tourism to bring in foreign exchange by making travel easier, faster, and safer for international tourists.

He also said India should support small businesses, invest more in infrastructure, give more help to manufacturing industries, and reduce import duties on raw materials to help local companies compete globally.

Mahindra believes that every crisis brings unexpected chances. He mentioned how countries like the EU and Canada are also using challenges to make bold reforms. India, he said, should do the same and turn this global crisis into a new growth story.
