It has been exactly a year since the formation of the NDA government in Andhra Pradesh under the leadership of chief minister, Chandrababu Naidu. On the occasion, the opposition YSR Congress took the streets to protest against the incumbent government.

The YSR Congress Party has strongly criticized the ruling coalition in Andhra Pradesh comprising TDP, Jana Sena, and BJP for failing to fulfill the promises made during the 2024 elections.

Despite being in power for a full year, the coalition reportedly has not implemented nearly 143 promises, including major ones under their “Super Six” plan. In protest, YSRCP has declared June 4 as “Vennupotu Dinam” or “Backstab Day,” symbolizing what they call betrayal of the public’s trust.

The discontent isn’t limited to India. NRIs in Australia also expressed their anger and disappointment, saying they feel ashamed to call themselves Andhra Pradesh citizens.

They highlighted the ongoing struggles of people back home and blamed the new government for not addressing the state’s pressing issues. The protest reflects growing dissatisfaction with the current leadership’s performance.

While it is common to see such protest events in Andhra Pradesh, things have been taken a bit further by the NRI being of YSR Congress as the party supporters in Australia have protested against the incumbent government in Andhra Pradesh.

Several YSRCP Australia leaders, including Chintalachervu Suryanarayana Reddy, Veeram Reddy Sridhar Reddy, Hari Edanaparthi, Dudala Loka Kiran Reddy, Krishna Chaitanya Kamaraju, and Burra Mukkala Rajagopal Reddy, have voiced their strong criticism of the ruling Andhra Pradesh coalition. They participated in protests expressing frustration over unfulfilled election promises.
