By: Tupaki Desk | 9 Nov 2025 8:51 PM ISTThe petrol prices across the country are largely volatile based on the day-to-day situation of the crude oil market. However, the interesting point that must be noted here is that Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have the highest petrol prices for any other state in India.
Petrol prices across India continue to show significant variation, with Andhra Pradesh and Telangana leading the list of states with the highest fuel costs.
Andhra Pradesh currently records the highest petrol price in the country at ₹109.60 per litre, reflecting the state’s steep tax structure and transport-related expenses. Telangana follows closely with ₹108.82 per litre, maintaining its position among the costliest states for motorists.
Madhya Pradesh ranks third with petrol priced at ₹107.60, while Bihar stands next at ₹106.94 per litre. Kerala and West Bengal also remain on the higher side at ₹106.47 and ₹105.95 respectively.
In western India, Maharashtra’s rate is ₹104.64 per litre, and neighbouring Rajasthan records ₹104.36. Among the northeastern and southern regions, Sikkim and Karnataka offer relatively lower prices at ₹103.30 and ₹103.26 respectively.
The wide difference in prices across states is primarily due to local taxes, transportation costs, and varying VAT rates. While global crude oil prices play a role, state-level duties have the greatest influence on retail fuel prices.
For residents of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, high petrol rates continue to impact daily expenses and transport costs, intensifying calls for tax rationalisation and relief measures from both governments.
