Andhra Pradesh and its debt is always a fascinating topic to discuss. Ever since the state was bifurcated people are talking more about the debts than its development. We are in 2024 and it appears that the debt’s row is nothing short of any thrilling episode. Two different versions of the issue are the reason for this.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu released a white paper on the state finances. He said that the debts stand at 9.74 lakh crore. He said that the debts increased compared to their regime as the debts were not that big.

While this is one version the other one says that the debts are just 7.5 lakh crore. Former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is saying that the debts are 7.5 Lakh crore. The YCP chief said that the state’s debts are just 7.5 lakh cr.

The amount includes the borrowing taken from various corporations. There is a difference of over 2 lakh between the two figures cited by them. They are saying that the numbers they are sighting are accurate and there is no number game.

On the other hand, there is a big difference between the numbers cited by Chandrababu when he was in opposition. Earlier he said that the state has a debt of 14 lakh crore and now he reduced the numbers to 9.7 lakh. The numbers came down by around 5 lakh crore.

As the CM Chandrababu Naidu in the white paper said the state’s debts are 9.7 lakh crore. Opposition leader YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said that the debts are just 7.5 lakh crore.

Whatever might be the claim one thing is evident that the state has debts and the people of the state should bear the burden. It looks like the debts number is still a mystery and the math behind this is tough to crack. CM says a different number while the former CM has something else to say.
