Another key leader to ditch YSRCP in Andhra Pradesh?

First, it was Thatikonda MLA Undavalli Sridevi. Now, here is another bombshell for the ruling YSRCP. Another key leader is all set to ditch the party for Telugu Desam. And this is going to happen in Gannavaram assembly constituency. The political equations in this region are set to change with this defection.

If our sources serve us right, the YSRCP’s defeated candidate Yarlagadda Venkat Rao is all set to resign from the YSRCP. He is likely to don the TDP’s yellow stole on August 19 in the presence of Nara Lokesh. Yarlagadda is a strong leader with deep local connections in the Gannavaram area of Krishna district.

In the 2019 elections, Yarlagadda was defeated by TDP candidate Vallabhaneni Vamsi. In the later developments, Vamsi joined the YSRCP. Since then, a war of one-upmanship has been on between both Vamsi and Yarlagadda. Despite several attempts by YS Jagan himself, the differences continued to grow.

Yarlagadda reportedly felt that the party would give the ticket to Vallabhaneni Vamsi. Despite his best efforts, Yarlagadda might not get the ticket. Hence, he and his supporters have decided to resign from the YSRCP ahead of the all-important 2024 assembly elections. His departure could have a serious impact on the fortunes of the party in Gannavaram constituency.
