By: Tupaki Desk | 20 Feb 2026 9:23 AM ISTIndia is a largely secular country, but there is this constant need to uphold the religious harmony as any kind of social unrest can lead to severe consequences. In this context, something detrimental has happened with regard to a leading Telugu YouTuber named Anvesh.
Popular Telugu travel influencer Naa Anveshana (Anvesh) whose Instagram had around 1.3 million followers had that account permanently removed by Meta after complaints and police action.
Meta’s decision follows a complaint filed with the Hyderabad CCS police by Telugu actress Karate Kalyani, alleging that Anvesh had made religiously insensitive remarks against Hindu deities and Indian culture in some of his videos.
Authorities examined the content, concluded it violated norms against promoting religious hatred, and sent a letter to Instagram’s parent company urging immediate removal of the account. Meta reviewed the complaint and took the account down under its community guidelines.
Internet users and Hindu groups have welcomed this move, saying the influencer’s remarks hurt devotees’ sentiments and warranted action. Some critics also argue platforms should enforce stricter controls against content that offends religious communities.
Outlets note that this isn’t Anvesh’s only legal trouble, earlier complaints were also filed over derogatory commentary and other controversial videos on his social platforms.
Following the Instagram ban, a section of netizens are now calling on YouTube to suspend his YouTube channel as well, since calls for action there are trending across social media debates. The situation has sparked a wider conversation about responsibility of influencers and platform enforcement of religious sensitivity norms online.
