By: Tupaki Desk | 16 Oct 2026 9:07 AM ISTThe much expected communication regarding the upcoming local body election in Andhra Pradesh has finally been released by the alliance parties a while back.
It has been officially communicated that the TDP would expectedly be contesting the majority of the seats on behalf of the alliance while the Janasena and the BJP would also be given reasonable numbers.
Out of 123 ULBs - 17 Corporations + 106 Municipalities, here’s a breakdown of the numbers associated with each of the alliance parties.
• TDP: 89 seats (72.4%)
• JSP: 25 seats (20.3%)
• BJP: 9 seats (7.3%)
17 Municipal Corporations:
• TDP: 11
• JSP: 4
• BJP: 2
But it really needs to be said that there is fair distribution in the number of seats allocated for each of the parties in the first phase of the local body election. It is the TDP, which is the fundamental stronger and cadre oriented party here and they’re rightly given the lions share of the seats.
Janasena was hoping for at least six corporations, but that did not happen as they have to settle down with four. BJP, which was expected to be given only one corporation managed to bag two of them.
This is going to be an interesting aspect of discussion in the Andhra Pradesh political circles from tomorrow as the seat sharing aspect between the alliance parties has started to create a significant public discussion already.
