Apple IPhones @ India: Rs 4 Lakh Crore Already?
This development reflects India’s rapid rise as a key global manufacturing base for high end electronics.
By: Tupaki Desk | 6 Jan 2026 11:07 AM ISTIt is already known that international mobile manufacturing giant Apple has launched a campaign in India where they are making their famous iPhone models here in India domestically.
Apple has achieved a major milestone under India’s Make in India program by exporting iPhones worth nearly 50 billion dollars from the country.
This roughly converts around ₹4 lakh crore and this is a pretty significant achievement completed by Apple.
This development reflects India’s rapid rise as a key global manufacturing base for high end electronics. Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw highlighted this achievement, calling it a strong sign of India’s transformation into a producer driven economy rather than just a consumer market.
A large portion of these exports came in the current financial year itself, with iPhone shipments crossing billions of dollars in just a few months. Apple began expanding its manufacturing presence in India after joining the government’s Production Linked Incentive scheme, which aims to boost domestic production and exports.
Since then, the company has significantly scaled up operations, contributing to employment generation across the electronics ecosystem.
Currently, Apple manufactures iPhones in India through multiple facilities operated by partners like Foxconn and Tata Group. These plants are supported by a growing network of suppliers, including several small and medium enterprises. The expansion has not only strengthened exports but also created lakhs of direct and indirect jobs.
The government says electronics production in India has grown multiple times over the past decade, with exports rising even faster. Along with smartphones, India is now focusing on components, laptops, servers, and wearable devices, positioning itself as a global electronics manufacturing powerhouse in the years ahead.
