Andhra Pradesh underwent a key episode in the much-awaited elections as polling was held on Monday. Massive arrangements were made by the EC. The hard work did not go in vain as the highest voting percentage was recorded. Despite a slow start, the numbers picked up with hours passing.

As the elections are concluded the final polling percentage is out. The polling percentage even went past the estimation. Earlier it was predicted that the voting turnout might be around 81 percent. But it went past this and stood at 81.86 percent.

This is a good sign and shows the interest people had in voting. The vote percent is the highest in the last four terms. Andhra Pradesh recorded the highest voting in the country so far in the four phases. As many as 3,38,38,349 votes were polled.

As per the information shared by the Chief Electoral Officer, Andhra Pradesh, overall 81.86 percent of votes were polled. While 80.66 percent of voters voted in EVMs, the rest of them were postal ballots. 4,42,216 votes were polled in postal ballots.

Earlier reports said that postal ballots might end up at the highest and making the reports true over 4 lakh votes were polled. On the other hand,53,573 were polled in home voting. What makes the polling special is that female voters are more in number.

The anticipation around the elections is high this time as the parties took the elections prestigiously. The three opposition parties allied to take on the ruling YCP. The election mood gripped voters too as they showed up in big numbers. People living in other states also reached Andhra Pradesh.

The voting turnout was less in the initial hours. Slowly, the voter count increased and they stood in long Q lines. This is the reason why the election hours were extended in some areas.

While high voting turnout is good news, the elections also saw a few unwanted scenes followed by post-poll violence. Section 144 was imposed in Palnadu region, one of the sensitive regions in the state.
