The previous government launched the system to take the benefits of the schemes to the beneficiaries' doorstep. On many occasions, YCP leaders said that Volunteers are the army of Jagan. This speaks volumes about the importance YCP gave to the Volunteers.
The Volunteer system hit the headlines ahead of the elections. The election commission issued orders directing Volunteers to not hand over any benefits including pensions. There was a political row in this and Volunteers resigned in big numbers and this was dubbed as a way to express their anger.
Things changed in the state before and after the elections. Volunteers who earlier resigned from the posts took a big turn and said they were forced to resign. They are rushing to the concerned legislators requesting them to take them back to jobs.
The mainstream media is saying that the Volunteers also filed a few complaints. It is said that a few Volunteers moved the Police against Corporators Suresh Reddy and Giri. Talking about their resignations they said that they were forced to do it and filed complaints.
The Volunteers alleged that they were forced to go for the resignations and are requesting the authorities for their jobs. As if that is not enough they even filed a few police complaints against the YCP leaders which is unexpected.
It is known that Chandrababu Naidu earlier said the Volunteers would not be removed and the salaries would be doubled. He even said that Volunteers would be given a chance to upskill.
After the change in power, the Volunteers have been fighting to get their jobs back. In what could be a big step they filed a Police complaint. Volunteers have come a long way from resigning before elections to filing a complaint.
