Which Former Chief Ministers Were Arrested So Far?

2024 has turned out to be sensational politically as two Chief Ministers were arrested. While a Chief Minister was arrested when he was in office, the second one was arrested shortly after his resignation. In the wake of the resorts of his arrest, he stepped down and made his wife the CM.

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren stepped down as CM and made his wife the CM shortly before his arrest. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by the ED the other day and he is dubbed the first CM to get arrested while holding the office.

Now the focus went on to the former Chief Ministers who were arrested in different cases. Across the states, a few CMs were arrested and sent to remand. Let us have a look at them.

Lalu Prasad Yadav: The former Bihar Chief Minister faced serious allegations in a fodder scam and was arrested. CBI probed the case and named him in the Charge sheet. The case created a sensation in the 90s. He made his wife the Chief Minister of the state. He was arrested and he underwent a jail term.

J Jayalalithaa: Actress-turned-politician who served as the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister was accused in a disproportionate assets case. First, she was convicted in a case and she challenged the verdict again. But the case came back to haunt her again. With this, she made her party leader CM.

Om Prakash Chautala: Back in the early 2000s, the teacher recruitment scam created a sensation in Haryana. Adding more intensity, a former Chief Minister and his son were convicted in the case. Moving the Court did not help. Former Haryana Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala and his son Ajay were convicted.

Madhu Koda: Another former Jharkhand Chief Minister on the list. He is accused of his involvement in mining scams and other irregularities. The worth of the mining scam is a few thousand crores. He was arrested and sent to jail. Four years after a jail term he was released.

Shibu Soren: The former Chief Minister and Union Minister was convicted in a murder case. The case deals with the missing and murder of his former arrest. What; 's shocking is that Shibu is the father of Hemant Soren. This is probably the only case of a father-son duo who were arrested as former CMs.

Nara Chandrababu Naidu: The former Chief Minister of AP is accused of involvement in AP Skill Development. He was sent to jail and after spending around two months he was released on bail.
