A recent report says the average cost of one date night has reached nearly $200. This includes dinner, drinks, transportation, and even personal grooming before the date.
According to surveys, the average American now spends around $189 for a single date. In one year, many people spend more than $2,300 on dating. At the same time, people are going on fewer dates than before because of rising prices and inflation.
Nearly half of single Americans said dating is not financially worth it anymore. Many people are worried about money and are choosing to delay dating or avoid relationships completely. Young adults, especially Millennials and Gen Z, are feeling the pressure the most.
Experts say there are now two types of people in the dating world. Some are trying to save money by choosing simple dates like cooking at home or watching movies on the couch. Others still spend large amounts of money on fancy dinners and expensive outings.
The report also showed that Millennials spend the most on dating. Their average spending per date has increased sharply compared to last year. Gen Z adults are also spending more than before. Many young people say dating expenses are hurting their savings and financial goals.
In big cities like New York, dating costs are even higher. A normal dinner date for two people can cost more than $150 after taxes and tips. Movie tickets, transportation, and dating app subscriptions also add extra expenses. Some popular dating apps charge monthly fees for premium services.
Because of these rising costs, many singles are choosing cheaper date options. Some people even say they would reject a date if it costs more than $100. Surveys also reveal that many people used credit cards or buy-now-pay-later services to pay for dating expenses.
Experts believe inflation and high living costs are changing how people spend money on relationships. Many Americans are now focusing more on financial stability than expensive dating experiences. Still, some believe honest communication and simple plans can help couples enjoy dating without spending too much money.
