The shocking incident in Telangana revolving around a formal BRS MLA, getting caught in drug bust is the talk of the town now. This incident also involves a Telugu Desam MP, which is having more pressure on this matter.

Telangana Congress leader and MLC candidate Balmoor Venkat has urged the state legislature authorities to set up a drug testing center inside the Assembly premises as part of efforts to curb the growing drug menace in the state.

Venkat submitted a representation to the Assembly Speaker and the Legislative Council Chairman requesting the establishment of the facility. According to him, the move would help create awareness about the dangers of drugs and also send a strong message to society.

He suggested that members of the Assembly and Council should also voluntarily undergo drug tests as part of an awareness initiative. This, he said, would demonstrate the commitment of public representatives in the fight against drug abuse and encourage people to stay away from narcotics.

Venkat expressed concern that the drug culture has increased significantly in the state over the past decade. He said the problem has spread beyond cities and is now reaching even remote villages, which makes the situation more alarming.

The Congress leader noted that after the people’s government came to power, special focus has been placed on preventing drug abuse. As part of these efforts, the government has constituted the Eagle team to identify and crack down on drug networks across the state.

He emphasized that public representatives have a responsibility to lead by example in such social issues. Venkat also requested authorities to install awareness display boards in the Assembly premises to educate visitors and legislators about the harmful effects of drugs.
