During the campaign, the Congress was successful in projecting an opinion that BJP would change the Constitution if it wins this time. This aspect played a key role.
Now the BJP came up with a big weapon to attack the grand old Congress. The Union Government wants to celebrate June 25 as the ‘Samvidhaan Hatya Diwas' every year. A Gazette was also released on this by the government.
It is known that the Congress party imposed an Emergency On June 25, 1975, under the leadership of the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. It is dubbed as one of the darkest periods in the country. Those who raised their voices were jailed and the news that appears on Newspapers was also censored.
When the Congress Party attacked the BJP for changing the Constitution, a few people questioned how the party could raise the question that imposed the Emergency and amended the Constitution a few times. However, the BJP did not think about this much as it went ahead with the 'Abki baar 400 paar' slogan.
It looks like the BJP wanted to give it back to the Congress on this. With this, the government decided to celebrate ‘Samvidhaan Hatya Diwas' on the 25th of June every year which marked the day of Emergency in the country. The Union Government said that the day will be observed to honour the resilience and the sacrifices made during the emergency time in the country.
