Another Concern To BJP: Loses Strength In Rajya Sabha Too!

Things are not going well with the BJP for some time. It almost lost the general elections as it fell short of the magic figure. It was forced to run the coalition government. Even in the recent by-election, the BJP could not win a good number of seats, losing the first test.

Now the BJP has another concern as it lost the majority mark in the Rajya Sabha too. The total strength of the house is 245 while the majority figure is 113. With strength, the party earlier passed many bills. But things would not be as smooth as earlier from now.

The tenure of four BJP-nominated members was over recently. With this, the party’s strength came down to 86. NDA’s strength is now just 101. On the other hand, the INDIA alliance has 87 strength.

The situation is such that BJP should seek the support of either YCP or AIADMK from Tamil Nadu. The parties have 11 and 4 seats respectively. Given the seat count, the BJP might ask YCP for support.

After the results, Vijayasai Reddy said that YCP still has good strength in the Rajya Sabha and everyone should remember this. Cut to a few days the NDA’s alliance strength was coming down.

It is known that the YCP is not an ally of the BJP. But YCP has the image of supporting the BJP during the bills. This was proven many times. The same is likely to happen in the future if the BJP needs any support. Since 2019, Jagan has been maintaining good ties with the BJP and Narendra Modi no matter what. Now we have to see if the YCP stand changes or not.
