Will the 'triple M' strategy of the BJP work in the Telangana elections? Sources say that this is a well-thought out strategy put forth by the BJP's top leadership. This will help the BJP crystallise some support for itself across the state, feels the national leadership of the party. But, will this strategy translate into votes for the party?

The BJP thinking heads have banked on three Ms - the Munnuru Kapus, Mudirajs and the Madigas. The Munnuru Kapus are a dominant BC community in the state and form a strong section of the voters in several constituencies. Key leaders like Dr K Laxman, former state BJP president Bandi Sanjay and MP Dharmapuri Aravind come from this community.

The second M – the Mudirajus have a strong presence across the state and play a key role in deciding the fortunes in 10 to 15 constituencies. Senior leader Eatala Rajender comes from Mudiraj community. He has assiduously cultivated the community across the state. Incidentally, Eatala is contesting from both Huzurabad and KCR’s borough of Gajwel.

The third M signifies the emerging Madiga community. The community is the strongest among the scheduled castes. However, most of the jobs, educational opportunities and others have been bagged by the Malas. Hence the madigas have for long been demanding categorization of the SC reservations. On Satuday, Modi addressed a public meeting where he assured to expedite the categorization of the SCs. This might tilt theSC votes twardsthe BJP. This could help the party in a significant way in the upcoming elections.

The BJP therefore Is trying to forge this caste combination, in addition to its traditional vote. This could help the party get at least 18 to 20 per cent votes and this could translate into 15-20 seats for the party, analysts feel.
