According to several reports, the brides and grooms are undergoing secret fertility tests in order to determine their physical conditions before marriage.
Male infertility is emerging as a significant but often overlooked health concern in India, prompting many prospective brides and grooms to discreetly undergo fertility testing even before marriage.
Doctors point out that nearly 40 percent of infertility cases now involve male factors, challenging the long held belief that fertility problems are largely linked to women.
Medical experts warn that sperm count and quality have been declining steadily over the decades. Research indicates a sharp global reduction in average sperm concentration, raising alarms among fertility specialists.
This decline is largely attributed to modern lifestyle patterns and environmental exposure. Chronic stress, irregular sleep, smoking, alcohol consumption, poor nutrition and obesity are known to negatively affect sperm health. In addition, air pollution, pesticides and chemicals found in plastics can disrupt hormonal balance and impair reproductive function.
Certain medical conditions also play a role, including blocked reproductive ducts, underdeveloped testes and disorders that affect sperm count, movement and shape. In some cases, timely surgery or assisted reproductive technologies can help overcome these challenges.
Despite this, male infertility is often detected late due to social stigma and lack of awareness. Doctors emphasize that early testing for men is simple, non invasive and cost effective. Addressing male fertility issues sooner can save couples emotional stress and prevent unnecessary treatment delays.
