When the BJP was in power, the burqa controversy in Karnataka created a sensation in the country. Keeping aside the issue of what happened in the elections, a similar issue is happening in France.
It is said that France is going to ban the Burqa(Abaya) Muslim students' wear. Education Minister Gabriel Attal made a key announcement in this regard. He said that the dress style is against the secular laws that need to be followed in schools.
Gabriel said that the burqas have religious symbols and this is violating the schools laws in France. He said that the decision will come into effect from the next academic year.
Education Minister Gabriel Attal said that the dress students wear should not be specific to mention their religion. As per the 2004 school law, the dresses should be revealing the religious symbols, he said.
The school managements in France are happy with the decision taken by the government. They are expressing concerns that tense situations are taking place in the schools as the tradition of wearing burqas increased. With this, the managements are welcoming the decision.
