Another Medal Lost: CAS Dismissed Vinesh Phogat’s Appeal!

India lost another medal in the Paris Olympics as a plea filed by an Indian wrestler was dismissed. Indians pinned high hopes on the petition hoping that India would win a Silver. However, the outcome was a massive shock for the Indians. The issue took a tragic end as the plea was dismissed.

Vinesh Phogat’s appeal is dismissed by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). Earlier the verdict was postponed by the Court a few times. The CAS said the verdict would be given on August 16th. However, the appeal is dismissed by the CAS as a big heartbreak.

Vinesh Phogat reached the finals in the Olympics. However, she was disqualified due to being overweight. She was just 100 grams overweight than the prescribed weight. Citing this as a reason she was disqualified.

The Wrestler challenged this and approached the CAS. Earlier the body said that it would take a call on this and the verdict would be given before the Olympics end. However, that did not happen and the verdict was postponed. Now the petition was dismissed by the CAS.

IOA President PT Usha responded to the development and said that it was a big disappointment. It is said that the IOA is looking at other options to continue the fight in this issue.

No matter what, the issue came as a big shock to one and all. Everyone hoped that Vinesh Pgogat would get a Sliver with the appeal. However, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) dismissed the plea.
