The report said that road accidents increased in 2022 compared to 2021. As per the reports, accidents increased by 11.9 %, deaths by 9.4 %, and victims count by 15.3% in 2022 compared to 2021. At the same time, the report also said that on average 53 accidents are happening every hour across the nation. 19 among them are passing away.
On the occasion, the department also listed the top ten states that are in top position as far as accidents and deaths are concerned. Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Gujarat are in the top ten positions.
At the same time, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, and Telangana are at the top in terms of deaths. Shockingly, Telugu states are present in both lists. In 2022 8,650 accidents were reported in AP and 7,505 accidents were reported in Telangana.
When we talk about the deaths caused by road accidents in 2022, AP recorded 3,793 and Telangana recorded 3,010. At the same time, 1,51,997 accidents were reported on the highways across the nation while 61,038 deaths were recorded.
Sadly, an accident was reported in AP today. A private bus lost control and turned turtle. A private bus that was coming to Hyderabad from Puducherry had lost control on the Chittoor-Vellore National Highway at the Gollamadugu cross. The bust rammed into a wall and lost control. 22 passengers were injured in the mishap. They were rushed to the nearby hospital for treatment.
