By: Tupaki Desk | 10 Jan 2026 12:46 AM ISTThe chief minister of Telugu states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, Chandrababu Naidu and Revanth Reddy respectively, go long way back. Now it appears that their personal relationship could be saving the greater interest of the Telugu states.
Today, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy appealed to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu not to create obstacles to projects approved during the undivided state on the Krishna River, and requested cooperation for a lasting resolution to water disputes in the larger interest of both states.
He expressed concern that objections raised by Andhra Pradesh to projects such as Palamuru–Rangareddy, Kalwakurthy, Dindi, SLBC, Bheema and Nettempadu have led to complications with environmental clearances and the Central Water Commission, besides delays in approvals and funds from the Central Government, resulting in additional financial burden on Telangana.
Emphasising that the government is thinking in the interest of people and farmers rather than political gains, he said mutual cooperation is crucial. As a landlocked state without port connectivity, Telangana has sought permissions for a 12-lane greenfield expressway, railway connectivity and linkage to Machilipatnam Port, which require the cooperation of neighbouring states.
He also stated that Telangana’s cooperation would be equally important for the development of Amaravati, the capital of Andhra Pradesh, and that issues can be resolved only through reciprocal cooperation. Telangana seeks friendly cooperation with Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu, and is committed to resolving all issues through dialogue and a give-and-take approach.
