Will Chandrababu implement one family-one ticket system?
The Telugu Desam Party is thinking of implementing ‘family rationing’ of tickets for the upcoming elections

The party feels that by giving more tickets to powerful families, there is a sense of entitlement among the members of these families. At the same time, other ticket aspirants are finding no incentive for growth within the party.
In the 2019 elections, two candidates from the Kotla family were given tickets. Kotla Jayasurya Prakash Reddy and Kotla Sujatamma were made party candidates. Ditto with the KE family. KE Krishnamurthy’s son KE Syambabu contested from Pathikonda, while brother KE Pratap contested from Dhone. Another sibling KE Prabhakar is already an MLC. Former minister Bhuma Akhila Priya contested and lost from Allagadda, while her brother Bhuma Brahmananda Reddy fought and lost from Nandyal.
TDP sources say that Chandrababu does not want to allow that to happen this time. He wants only one member from one political family to be in the fray. This will give opportunity to other candidates too, he feels.
Sources say that Chandrababu is facing a lot of resistance from politically powerful families across the state. These leaders are pressing for tickets for all the members of the family. It remains to be seen how Chandrababu will tackle this issue.
