The next generation of Indian population is reportedly suffering from multiple problems, including job loss, and unemployment as the latest development are suggesting that overweight and obesity are also concerning.

A new concern is emerging about the future of India, and it is not related to population or the economy. Experts are now warning that rising obesity could become a major burden for the country in the coming decades. The growing number of overweight children and adults is turning into a serious public health issue.

Recent global health reports suggest that India has one of the highest numbers of obese children in the world. At present, around 41 million children in the country are either overweight or obese. Health experts warn that if the current trend continues, the number could increase sharply by 2040, creating a major challenge for the healthcare system.

Lifestyle changes are considered the main reason behind this growing problem. Increased consumption of junk food, reduced physical activity, and long hours spent on mobile phones and screens are contributing to weight gain among young people.

Many children are developing unhealthy eating habits and spending less time on outdoor activities.

Doctors also warn that childhood obesity can lead to serious health problems later in life. Conditions such as diabetes, heart disease and high blood pressure could start appearing at younger ages.

If the issue is not addressed soon, it may affect the productivity and health of future generations. Experts say promoting healthy food habits, regular exercise and active lifestyles from childhood is essential to protect the country’s long term health and development.
