Chinese Govt Wants Women To Get Married, Increase Birth Rate?

The nation accused of unleashing the Covid pandemic on the world had struggled big time with the virus. Like other nations, China also imposed a lockdown to see that the virus is not spread further. Now the nation has another big concern which is giving a new headache to the rulers.

Population and birth rates have been decreasing in the nation for some time. China also lost the tag of the most populated country in the world to India. It is said that the rulers are worried about this and want to set things right.

As per the local Chinese media, President Xi Jinping had urged women to get married and have kids as the population is coming down. While urging women to get married, the President reportedly expressed his concerns about the drop in the population and birth rate.

President Xi Jinping attended the All-China Women’s Federation meeting and said that the new marriage and childbirth culture should be cultivated. He also said that childbirth should be supported and the required measures should be taken.

As the birthrate came down severely in China, experts trace the change in the priorities for women in the country. In the 2018 edition of Federation, it was discussed how to help women balance work and family and help them contribute to family and society. Cut to five years the priority changed and the focus is on cultivating a new type of marriage and promoting policies that support childbirth.
